The New Jersey Devils have begun the season at 0-2-3 and have been outscored 2-7 in third periods. I take a quick overview of how the Devils have done in third periods and provide thoughts on what it means so early in this season.

Yeah, yeah. The rookie's had a hell of a first week or so. Let's not kid ourselves, the Canucks have to be a little more concerned about the sum of those parts than any particular one. The first real test of the John Tortorella era comes tonight.

The Devils played the second game of their big Canadian road trip tonight in Vancouver. They were outplayed for much of the game, including a brutal 2nd period. They squandered a two goal lead, but in actuality were lucky get a point in an OT loss.

Thanks to some great scheduling from the NHL, we don't have to wait long before Cory Schneider's return to Vancouver. While it's nice to see him back, here's hoping the Canucks aren't generous hosts tonight as they take on the Devils.
