Recap: Minnesota vs. Boston

Sports Network | November 25, 2009

St. Paul, MN (Sports Network) - David Krejci notched the winner in the fourth round of the shootout as Boston edged Minnesota, 2-1, at Xcel Energy Center.

Both teams had tallied once in the first three rounds. Krejci began the fourth round with a successful backhander, then former Bruin Chuck Kobasew had his forehand shot turned aside to end the contest.

Byron Bitz tallied in regulation for the Bruins, who finished up a four-game road trip with an untarnished record. Tuukka Rask made 28 saves for the win.

Andrew Ebbett scored for the Wild, who have dropped five of six. Niklas Backstrom took the loss after stopping 15-of-16 shots.

The Bruins picked up a goal from their third line when Bitz deflected a Derek Morris shot 6:50 into the contest -- one of only two Boston shots in the first period.

Ebbett countered for the Wild on a power play just after the midway point of regulation and neither team could break the deadlock through the end of the third period.

Boston enjoyed a late power play but Mark Recchi's bid with a half-open net as time wound down was weakly pushed wide.

Backstrom made an incredible diving stick save on Marc Savard from the right side early in overtime, then Rask came up with a huge glove stop in the final minute of OT with the Wild on the man advantage.

Boston hadn't beaten Minnesota since a 3-2 result in St. Paul on December 15, 2005...Bruins forward Milan Lucic left the game in the third period with a left leg injury and did not return.
