(Sports Network) - The Nashville Predators will try to begin a new winning streak this evening in a matchup with the Florida Panthers at Sommet Center.

Nashville had both a seven-game overall and home winning streak end last night in a 3-1 setback to St. Louis, falling one victory shy of matching the longest winning streak in club history.

Recalled from the American Hockey League on Thursday, Dave Scatchard scored his first goal of the season in the loss, while Pekka Rinne, who had been in net for each of the Predators' victories over the streak, made 35 saves. However, former Nashville and current St. Louis netminder Chris Mason made 37 saves.

"We rattled off seven in a row, and now we're on a one-game losing streak," said Predators head coach Barry Trotz. "The most important game of the season is [Saturday] night, plain and simple. We've got to start another winning streak; win the next game. You don't want to go backwards at all."

Nashville will look to find its offense after going 0-for-5 on the power play and scoring less than three goals for the first time in six games. The Preds also fell to 8-4-0 at home.

The Panthers come to town having had an eight-game points streak (5-0-3) halted with last night's 6-4 home defeat at the hands of the Maple Leafs.

Michael Frolik and Radek Dvorak both scored in the game's first 2:04, but Florida blew three leads en route to its third loss in a row. Rookie defenseman Dmitry Kulikov had two goals and Tomas Vokoun gave up five goals on 32 shots.

"It's a tough one to swallow," Panthers head coach Peter DeBoer said. "We had a great first period, I thought we could have had three or four (goals). It's been a little of our Achilles heel all year, not putting teams away when we have the opportunity."

Gregory Campbell missed his fourth straight game last night due to an upper- body injury, but is traveling with the team and could return tonight.

The Panthers, 8-3-3 in their last 14 games, are 7-4-1 on the road this season.

The Predators recorded a 3-2 shootout win at home last year over Florida, their second straight win over the Panthers, who are 0-3 with a tie in their last five trips to Nashville.

Florida hasn't won in Nashville since December 11, 1999.
