Sports Network | January 15, 2010

Edmonton, AB (Sports Network) - Pascal Dupuis capped a furious Pittsburgh third-period comeback with 9 1/2 minutes to play, as the Penguins scored three unanswered goals in the final stanza to beat the struggling Edmonton Oilers, 3-2.

Tyler Kennedy and Matt Cooke also scored for the Penguins, who trailed, 2-0, entering the third period but scored three times within 7 1/2 minutes. Marc- Andre Fleury made 33 stops, including 13 in the third period, to keep Pittsburgh in the game and secure the victory.

"We made some good plays around the net and got a lucky break on the third one," Penguins center Sidney Crosby said. "That's what happens when you put the puck on the net."

Jordan Staal assisted on each goal, as the defending champion Penguins improved to 3-1-0 on their five-game road trip.

Andrew Cogliano and Lubomir Visnovsky both tallied a power-play goal for Edmonton, which fell to a dismal 1-12-1 over its last 14 games. Devan Dubnyk, stopped 17 shots in the first two periods before allowing three goals on 14 shots in the ill-fated third period.

"We played a really good game. We should have won the game," Cogliano said. "It's just late breakdowns that cost the game for us and it's been happening all year."

Pittsburgh trailed by two entering the third period but scored three goals in the third to rally for the win.

Kennedy got the Pens on the board with a quick wrister from the right circle that eluded Dubnyk with 16:42 still to play.

Then, on the power play, Pittsburgh drew even. Staal fired a shot from in close that was initially stopped by Dubnyk's pad, but Cooke was right there to corral the rebound and put it into the net at 6:48.

With 9:30 remaining on the clock, Staal had possession behind the net and fired the puck out in front. Dupuis was standing in the crease and had the disc bounce off his knee and behind Dubnyk for a 3-2 lead.

Edmonton pulled Dubnyk in the final moments, but the Oilers never had a significant opportunity to beat Fleury for the equalizer.

After a scoreless first period, the Oilers struck first. Skating with a 5-on-3 power play, Patrick O'Sullivan fired a pass across the crease to Cogliano, whose second effort shot beat Fleury to the top right corner at 1:34.

Just over 10 minutes later, Visnovsky ripped a slap shot from the point for a power-play goal and a 2-0 lead heading into the third.
