Eric Staal extended his career best point streak to 11 consecutive games and the Carolina Hurricanes came from behind to defeat the Buffalo Sabres on Friday night, 4-3. Staal scored a goal and picked up an assist to give him 10 goals and seven assists in his streak.

Initially, the recall of Peters prompted thoughts that Manny Legace could be traded. But the backup, who has not started a game since leaving a contest early with a bout of pick eye, will get the start tonight in Buffalo as the Hurricanes, (19-30-7) meet the Sabres, (32-16-7) for a match that starts tonight at 7:30 at the HSBC arena.

Chuck Kaiton was on 99.9 The Fan late today and told Mike Maniscalco that the trade sending Niclas Wallin to San Jose was close to being completed, but was still not finalized. The problem? Wallin's agent was negotiating a contract extension with Sharks GM, Doug Wilson.

The information is being confirmed all over the internet, Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Tim Gleason will make TEAM USA and will represent the United States in the upcoming Olympics in Vancouver. The official press conference is scheduled for 3 p.m. today.
