Sports Network | November 28, 2009

Glendale, AZ (Sports Network) - Lauri Korpikoski scored twice as the Phoenix Coyotes downed the Dallas Stars, 5-2.

Zbynek Michalek, Robert Lang and Adrian Aucoin each had a goal for the Coyotes, who had dropped three of four coming into the game. Ilya Bryzgalov made 30 stops while Scottie Upshall and Matthew Lombardi each had three assists.

"It's a whole team breakthrough to score five goals," noted Coyotes head coach Dave Tippett. "Compared to where we've been the last few games, it's good to see guys get a couple."

Brenden Morrow and Mike Ribeiro each had a goal for the Stars, who have lost their past two games. Marty Turco started in net, but was pulled after the second period as he gave up four goals on 19 shots. Alex Auld finished the game between the pipes and stopped nine shots.

Phoenix opened the scoring midway through the first period. David Schlemko had the puck at the left point and dished it down to Lang, who skated through the middle and from just outside the right circle snapped a wrister past Turco.

At the 4:15 mark of the second the Coyotes took a 2-0 lead. A neutral zone turnover resulted in Upshall heading the other way. He skated into the Dallas end down the left wing, faked the shot and passed it to the slot where Korpikoski backhanded it into the net.

Korpikoski scored his second goal of the game with 4:15 to play in the second and Aucoin lit the lamp just 26 seconds later to give the Coyotes a 4-0 lead heading into the second intermission.

Phoenix took a 5-0 lead just 1:52 into the third as Michalek's slap shot from the right point beat Auld cleanly.

Dallas broke the shutout at the 5:26 mark on the power play as Morrow's slapper from the right point beat Bryzgalov cleanly and Ribeiro made it a 5-2 game less than two minutes later with his eighth goal of the season.

"We've been frustrated all year with putting a string of wins together," said Morrow. "You're not going to win a lot of games when you're not competing for the whole 60 (minutes)."

Phoenix plays at Anaheim on Sunday...Dallas hosts Tampa on Saturday...The Coyotes have won five straight against Dallas...Dallas went 1-for-5 on the power play while Phoenix failed to score on either of its two man advantages.
