(Sports Network) - The Blue Jackets are taking steps to put their awful six- week stretch behind them. However, they could be in for a wake-up call with a trip to St. Louis on tap for tonight.

Columbus, aiming for a season-high fourth straight win, will try to end a seven-game series road losing streak Tuesday night versus the Blues at Scottrade Center.

The Blue Jackets are on their first three-game winning streak since November 13-19. Columbus, though, went just 3-14-7 between its three-game bursts, a run that included a club record 13-game road losing streak.

The team is showing signs of moving forward. In addition to their current string of three straight victories, the Blue Jackets have won two in a row on the road to improve to 8-13-4 as the guest this year.

Columbus' most recent win did come at home, a 2-0 blanking of Dallas on Sunday. Mathieu Garon made 26 saves for his second shutout of the season and 16th of his career, while Raffi Torres and Antoine Vermette both scored.

"You just reach a stage where you get sick of losing, so you're going to have to play a certain way," said Columbus head coach Ken Hitchcock. "I don't see any reason that we can't play like this for the rest of the year. The players are comfortable in this type of game. I'm hoping we can continue down this path and play this way. We're grinding it with really good teams and we're more than holding our own."

Columbus, though, remains eight points back of the eighth playoff spot in the Western Conference and may find it tough to make up ground in St. Louis. The Blue Jackets haven't won in the Gateway City since March 27, 2007 and have been outscored 29-10 over their seven-game slide there.

However, Columbus did earn a 5-2 home win over St. Louis on November 30 to halt a three-game overall slide to the Blues while picking up just their second win in the last 10 meetings in the series.

St. Louis comes into this game seeking consecutive wins for the first time since a three-game streak from December 20-23. The Blues notched a 4-3 win over the Kings on Saturday to halt a seven-game losing streak, the club's longest of the season, and give interim head coach Davis Payne his first win in four games on the bench (1-2-1).

B.J. Crombeen had the game-winner in the third period, just his second goal of the season and first since St. Louis' season opener on October 2. Brad Winchester, David Perron and T.J. Oshie also scored, while Chris Mason made 21 saves.

"We really need to build on this win and get back in the playoff race," Perron said. "We need to put up some big wins. We've had trouble holding leads in the third period all year. It takes wins like this to get some momentum and confidence."

St. Louis, 14th in the West and 10 points back of a playoff spot, begins a three-game homestand tonight and will try to break a five-game skid as the host. The Blues are 6-14-3 overall at home this year.
