Montreal, QC (Sports Network) - Mike Cammalleri registered a goal and picked up an assist on a tally by fellow newcomer Scott Gomez, as the Montreal Canadiens edged the Florida Panthers, 3-2, in a preseason contest at the Bell Centre.
Cammalleri was signed as a free agent in the summer, while Montreal acquired Gomez in an offseason trade from the New York Rangers.
Matt D'Agostini's second-period marker proved to be the game-winner for the Canadiens. Carey Price made nine saves before he was relieved by Curtis Sanford, who turned away 19-of-21 shots.
David Booth and Evgeni Dadonov each had a goal for Florida. Scott Clemmensen was beaten three times on 26 shots over the first 40 minutes. Alexander Salak made five saves.
