New York, NY (Sports Network) - Vinny Prospal, Enver Lisin and Ryan Callahan each scored in the first period as the New York Rangers held on for a 4-2 preseason victory over the Detroit Red Wings.
Artem Anisimov scored into an empty net with 15 seconds remaining in the final period for the Rangers, who received strong goaltending from Henrik Lundqvist and Stephen Valiquette. Lundqvist made 12 saves while playing the first and part of the second period, and Valiquette stopped 16-of-17 shots in relief.
Kirk Maltby and Ville Leino scored for the Red Wings. Daniel Larsson stopped 18-of-21 shots in the start and Dan Cloutier stopped all eight shots he faced.
