Philadelphia, PA (Sports Network) - Nathan Horton scored two goals as the Florida Panthers dropped the struggling Philadelphia Flyers, 4-1, at Wachovia Center.
Mike Frolik had a goal and two assists for the Panthers, who have won four of their last five. Stephen Weiss added a goal and three assists for Florida, which got 30 saves from Tomas Vokoun in the win.
Braydon Coburn had the lone goal for the fading Flyers, who have dropped four straight and six of seven.
"I think everyone has to dig a little bit deeper, work a little bit harder. We seem timid to make plays," Flyers coach Peter Laviolette said.
Brian Boucher left the game 2:01 into the second period after Weiss' goal as he skated to the bench and went into the locker room with what appeared to be a hand injury. He was on the bench in the third period. Boucher was charged with two goals on 13 shots while Michael Leighton allowed two goals on 17 shots in relief.
Just 4:53 into the game, the Panthers took the lead on the power play as a shot from the left point by Keith Ballard was tipped into the net by Horton in front.
Vokoun stopped 12 shots in the first period to keep Philly off the board.
Florida made it a 2-0 game with another power-play goal just 2:01 into the second. Frolik threw a shot on net from the left circle that Boucher made a diving save on, but the rebound kicked out front and Weiss slammed it into the empty net.
Vokoun kept the shutout going in the second period by stopping seven shots.
Frolik notched his 11th goal of the season on the power play just 1:30 into the third.
Florida made it a 4-0 game at the 5:54 mark of the third as Horton took a pass in the deep left boards, skated out front and snapped a wrister into the top of the net.
Philadelphia scored a 4-on-4 goal as Coburn's wrister from the right circle went through a screen to spoil Vokoun's shutout bid with 6:13 to play.
"Our skill players made skill plays. Our grinders finished hits and got to the nets. Our penalty killers killed penalties. Our goaltending was great. Everybody did their job," Panthers coach Peter DeBoer said.
It was Horton's 16th two-goal game of his career...Over the last seven games, the Flyers have scored just nine goals...Philadelphia begins a six-game road trip in Tampa Bay on Wednesday...Florida travels to New York for a game against the Rangers on Wednesday...Florida has won four of the last six games against Philadelphia, including two of three this season...Florida went 3- for-8 on the power play while Philly failed to score on any of its seven chances.
