Even so, this is an underrated group, and if Pekka Rinne can turn his star performance in a half season into more of a full-time showing, the Predators do have a chance to return to the playoffs. Everyone will be betting against them, but when hasn't that been the case?

One of the more popular role players on the Nashville Predators, Vern Fiddler, signed yesterday with the Phoenix Coyotes for 2 years and $2.2 million. While Preds fans will miss his hustle and determination, it's nice to see Fiddler, a bit of a late bloomer at the NHL level, earn a multi-year, multi-million dollar contract.
