Boston Bruins Forward Rich Peverley Inches Closer To Return

While the Boston Bruins have not necessarily lacked for offense in their last two games (especially Monday's 8-0 win), forward depth is always welcome as the post-season quickly approaches. The Bruins could gain some depth back if Rich Peverley's latest practices are any indication.

Comcast Sports Net New England Bruins columnist Joe Haggerty reported Wednesday that the center took a physical and close to normal part in the Bruins practice in San Jose. Dispatched Haggerty from California:

"It wasn't hand-to-hand combat on the ice, but it was pretty clear Peverley was getting bumped around a little bit during the practice session."

Peverley practiced Wednesday with the third line, which includes Brian Rolston, Chris Kelly and Benoit Pouliot. He has not seen game action since February 15th because of a knee sprain.

Despite Peverley's activity level in practice, the Bruins have not announced an exact timetable for his return. The Bruins have three games in four nights in California starting on Thursday against the San Jose Sharks.

Mike Mottau Calls Bruins Trade 'A Dream Come True'

Mike Mottau, newly acquired Boston Bruins defenseman and Avon, Mass. native, called his trade to the B's a "dream come true" (via WEEI). Mottau and former Islanders teammate Brian Rolston joined Boston as part of a four-player deal at the NHL Trade Deadline.

Mottau, who played his college hockey at Boston College, said about the move

"Growing up a Bruins fans, and following the team throughout my whole professional career, finally getting a chance to put on the sweater was really special this morning, even just to go out for morning skate," Mottau said after Tuesday's morning skate.

Mottau said he followed the Bruins' Stanley Cup run closely last season.

"Even playing with the Islanders last year, I was home for the Cup run. Watching the guys go through it, it was pretty amazing for the city and these guys," he said. "I know quite a few guys and it's great to be a part of it now."

Mottau is expected to be in the lineup against the Senators on Tuesday night.
