(Sports Network) - The Montreal Canadiens will try to extend their winning streak to five games tonight against the Eastern Conference's top team, as the Habs visit the Pittsburgh Penguins for a showdown at Mellon Arena.

The Canadiens have won four in a row on the heels of a five-game slide and can match their longest winning streak from last year with another victory tonight.

Montreal hasn't exactly dominated the opposition during its current surge, as three of the four victories have come after regulation. Two of the wins have also come against the lowly New York Islanders, including Monday's 3-2 home decision at Bell Centre.

Roman Hamrlik notched the game-winning goal 1:32 into overtime as the Habs escaped with the close victory over the Isles.

"We worked hard and were lucky tonight," said Hamrlik. "We should take a lesson from this. We're happy with the two points, but we have to compete a little harder."

Travis Moen registered a goal and an assist, while Jaroslav Spacek also tallied for Montreal. Mike Cammalleri notched an assist and has five goals and three helpers during a five-game point streak.

Jaroslav Halak claimed his fourth win in a row after turning aside 29-of-31 shots. Halak, who came into this year as the backup to Carey Price, is 4-1-0 and has a 2.28 goals-against average in six games this season. Price is just 2-4-0 with a 3.36 GAA this year and it's uncertain who will get the start tonight.

Montreal ended a six-game homestand Monday against the Isles and went 4-2-0 on the residency. The Habs are 2-3-0 as the guest his year and are kicking off a brief two-game swing tonight that will also feature Friday's stop in Chicago.

Pittsburgh, which leads the East with 18 points, suffered just its second loss of the season Saturday against the visiting New Jersey Devils. Zach Parise, Nicklas Bergfors and Travis Zajac each had a goal and an assist to lift the Devils to a 4-1 win and halt the defending Stanley Cup champions' winning streak at seven games.

Alex Goligoski had the lone score for the Penguins, who lost their first game since a 3-0 defeat to Phoenix on October 7. Marc-Andre Fleury turned aside 22- of-26 shots in his first defeat of the season.

Goligoski is riding a five-game point streak as the defenseman has recorded one assist in each of the games during the run.

Pens forward Pascal Dupuis is suffering from an illness and is questionable for tonight's game. He has one goal and two assists in 11 games this season.

Pittsburgh is 3-1-0 on a five-game homestand that comes to a close tonight. The Pens are 4-2-0 overall at the Igloo this season.

Tonight marks the first of four meetings between the Habs and Pens this year. The clubs split four matchups during the 2008-09 series, but Pittsburgh has taken four of six overall. Montreal has taken six of the last 10 encounters in the Steel City.
