7 - 8- 4

Dallas Stars (4-2-4) at St. Louis Blues (4-3-1), 8 p.m.

(Sports Network) - Though it took an outstanding comeback, Dallas still hasn't lost on the road in regulation this season. It hopes to have an easier go of it tonight in St. Louis, where the club has struggled as of late.

The Stars aim to avoid a seventh loss in their last eight trips to Scottrade Center, where they battle the Blues Saturday night.

Dallas is 3-0-3 on the road this season, though it was minutes away from a regulation loss on Thursday in Los Angeles. Trailing 4-1 in the third period, Jamie Benn and Mark Fistric scored 1:32 apart in the frame before James Neal's second goal of the game with 2:46 to go forced overtime.

However, the Kings' Michal Handzus scored 55 seconds into the extra session to deal the Stars a 5-4 loss, dropping them to 1-0-1 on a three-game road trip.

"You never want to put yourself in the hole like we did, but it shows the character that we have," said Neal. "When you come back like that, any little bounce in overtime is going to win it. Tough loss, but it's a good character comeback for us."

Brad Richards returned from a two-game absence thanks to a groin injury to notch a pair of assists, while Alex Auld halted 26 shots in the setback.

Dallas will try to get on track tonight at Scottrade Center, where it has lost two straight and six of seven. The Stars also lost three of four to the Blues overall a season ago, winning the final meeting in overtime.

The Blues are coming off their first victory in St. Louis of the season, a 3-1 win over Minnesota on Friday night. St. Louis is 2-2-0 as the host, with the previous credited home win coming over Detroit in Sweden.

Jay McClement scored 56 seconds into last night's game, David Perron notched a goal and an assist and Brad Boyes also tallied for the Blues, who have won two of three after three consecutive losses.

"That was no question our best first period of the year, we came out determined. We had a game plan and we stuck to it," said goaltender Chris Mason, who faced only four shots in the opening period and stopped 20-of-21 shots faced overall.

After a road game in Carolina on Wednesday, the Blues will return home for three in a row.
