Recap: St. Louis vs. Florida

Sports Network | November 1, 2009

St. Louis, MO (Sports Network) - Tomas Vokoun stopped all 34 shots he faced for his first shutout of the season as Florida shut down St. Louis, 4-0, at Scottrade Center.

Stephen Weiss, Cory Stillman, Dennis Seidenberg and Nathan Horton picked up the goals for the Panthers, who posted a better defensive effort than in Friday's wild 6-5 shootout win in Dallas.

"Every time you get a shutout, there's got to be a mix of good play and a little bit of luck," Vokoun said.

Chris Mason allowed three goals on 26 shots for the Blues, losers in three of their last four games.

"We need to be better. Our fans deserve more," said Blues head coach Andy Murray.

Florida picked up where it left off in Friday's victory, scoring twice in the first period thanks to Stillman and Weiss roughly seven minutes apart.

The offense helped Vokoun, who had to stop 10 shots in the second period and 15 more in the third period to post his shutout.

The Panthers tacked on two more in the final stanza, with Seidenberg hitting the net at 8:08 and Horton scoring into an empty net with just under three minutes remaining.

Vokoun notched his 32nd career whitewash and 11th with the Panthers...Florida has won four of the five matchups with St. Louis, including a 1-0 shutout on December 13, 2007.
