Defending champions Wise Dan and Royal Delta headline a strong group of returning champions that are set to go in the 30th edition of the Breeders' Cup, which will be held at Santa Anita on November 1-2.

There are eight Breeders' Cup winners from 2012 back this year: Mizdirection, Trinniberg, Beholder, Fort Larned, Groupie Doll, Little Mike, Wise Dan, and Royal Delta, who also won in 2011. In addition, Secret Circle won the Juvenile Sprint in 2011.

Wise Dan is the even money favorite in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Mile, according to the horse racing odds at OddsShark.com. It's a race he won last year that earned him Horse of the Year honors.

Royal Delta is the 8-5 morning line favorite as she goes for a three-peat in the $2 million Breeders' Cup Distaff (G1). Trainer Bill Mott is going for his fourth consecutive win in the Distaff (formerly called the Ladies' Classic). He won the 2010 running with Unrivaled Belle and won with Ajina in 1997 and Escena in 1998.

Royal Delta will have to turn the tables on Princess of Sylmar (9-5) who beat the two-time champion in their prep race in the Beldame Invitational (G1) at Belmont Park. The Beldame was a Breeders' Cup Challenge "Win and You're In" race.

Beholder (5-2) won last year's Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) and will be looking to win her second Breeders' Cup race in the Distaff.

Mizdirection won last year's $1 million Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1) against the boys off a 5 ½ month layoff and she is back to defend her title this year off a similar layoff. The Mike Puype trainee is the 4-1 morning line favorite and is perfect in her six starts on turf at Santa Anita.

Trinniberg (8-1) won last year's $1.5 million Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1) paying $29.40, but has lost all four of his starts this year.

Fort Larned is the 6-1 third choice in the Classic and is coming into the race off a victory in the Homecoming Classic at Churchill Downs. The Ian Wilkes trainee pulled off the upset last year, paying $20.80.

Groupie Doll was a much the best winner of last year's $1 million Breeders' Cup Filly & Mare Sprint, returning $3.40 as the chalk. She is the 5-2 morning line favorite for this year's running and faces 11 foes.

Among her main rivals will be Dance to Bristol (5-1), who has won seven of nine starts this year, and Book review (6-1) who was beaten just a head by Dance With Bristol in the Ballerina (G1) at Saratoga in her last outing.

Little Mike pulled off the upset in last year's $3 million Breeders' Cup Turf (G1), returning his backers $36.60 and is 6-1 on the morning line this year.

The gelding was winless in four starts since last year's Turf and seemed headed in the wrong direction, but ran big last out taking the Joe Hirsch Turf Classic (G1) at Belmont Park.

Secret Circle won the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Sprint in 2011, a race that was discontinued, and now he is back in the Sprint.

The colt came back off an 18-month layoff with a sharp win against optional claimers and is listed at 4-1 on the morning line.
