Florida Gators vs. Kentucky Wildcats betting odds, trends, prediction, preview

Florida looks for its first win at Kentucky since 2007. The No. 3 ranked Gators are picked by the computer to win this key SEC battle.

A pair of Southeastern Conference basketball powerhouses will go head-to-head when the No. 14 Kentucky Wildcats play host to the No. 3 Florida Gators on Saturday night.

The Gators and Wildcats currently sit first and second in the SEC standings, with Florida leading the conference with a 22-2 overall record SU, three games ahead of Kentucky, who currently sit at 19-5 SU.

The spread was expected to open shortly, but the Florida Kentucky matchup odds report was already up with key handicapping data like the 8-2 SU head-to-head for the Wildcats.

It is the first of two meetings between the two schools this season; they meet again in Florida on March 8 in the regular season finale.

Prediction: 71-65 Florida

The Wildcats enter Saturday's game with an impressive 15-2 record SU on home court, including victories in their last eight at home. However, Kentucky has struggled against ranked schools this season, dropping games to Michigan State, Baylor, and North Carolina before posting a 73-66 upset victory over Louisville.

That was a game in which the Wildcats were 3-point underdogs on the college basketball betting lines menu.

The Gators travel to Kentucky riding a 16-game winning streak SU; their last defeat coming at the hands of Connecticut on December 2. But Florida has had no success on the road against Kentucky in recent years, losing SU on their last seven visits to Lexington dating back to 2008.

As March Madness approaches, both the Wildcats and the Gators sit among the top tier of schools in futures wagering. Florida sits among favourites like Kansas, Arizona, and Syracuse, with odds ranging from 6/1 to 15/2 at online sportsbooks.

Oddsmakers cannot yet agree on where to peg Kentucky in March Madness futures wagering. The Wildcats, who won the national championship in 2012, sport odds that range widely between 6/1 and 14/1, depending on the online sportsbook.

A strong performance against the Gators would undoubtedly impact the Wildcats' No.14 ranking and how the school is viewed by oddsmakers and sports bettors.
