Virginia favored in East betting, Memphis vs George Washington odds, picks

Virginia is the top seed and favored in East Region odds, while George Washington is a slight underdog to Memphis. See previews and bracket picks.

The 1-seed Virginia Cavaliers are just 1-4 SU in five NCAA Tournament games since 1997.

They should add at least one win to that SU record as a 21-point favorite against 16-seed Coastal Carolina. Earlier in the evening at the PNC Arena the 8-seed Memphis Tigers are a 3-point favorite going up against the 9-seed George Washington Colonials.

The Memphis Tigers went just 4-4 SU and 2-5-1 ATS over the last eight games of their season, but still picked up an at-large bid with a 23-9 SU and 15-13-1 ATS overall record. The Tigers are just 1-4 ATS in their last five first-round matchups. Memphis averaged 77.6 PPG led by Joe Jackson's 14.3 PPG.

George Washington received an at-large bid after going 24-8 SU and 17-10 ATS this season in the Atlantic 10 Conference. The Colonials haven't fared well in the NCAA Tournament recently with a 0-4-1 ATS record in their last five games.

The OVER is 13-4-1 in George Washington's last 18 games as the betting underdog.
