Nobody drafted lower than seventh overall stands much of a chance in earning NFL Rookie of the Year honors, if odds posted today are to be believed.
Offensive Rookie of the Year prop betting lists Mike Evans as the top betting choice. The Texas A&M wideout was taken seventh overall by Tampa Bay, three picks after Sammy Watkins was chosen by Buffalo.
But Evans, Johnny Manziel's top target with the Aggies, is listed ahead of Watkins as a 3-1 bet. Watkins, the talented Clemson receiver, is a 4-1 bet, according to odds posted at OddsShark.com.
On defense, top pick Jadeveon Clowney was a 2-1 wager on winning Defensive Rookie of the Year. The second pick on that list is Khalil Mack, the linebacker taken by Oakland at No. 5.
The others among the top seven picks got far less love from oddsmakers. And in two cases, they got no love. No. 3 pick Blake Bortles went to Jacksonville as its QB of the future, but he was listed only as a 20-1 bet.
The other two, tackles Greg Robinson and Jake Matthews, got no love since offensive linemen almost never generate enough media hype to be considered.
The aforementioned Manziel, selected by the Cleveland Browns late in the first round, was 15-2 on the offensive side of the betting ball.
Marqise Lee, who went to Jacksonville at No. 39, is listed at 12-1 odds, as is Kelvin Benjamin, the No. 28 pick to Carolina.
