NCAA Bracket 2012: South Region Gets Kentucky, No. 1 Overall Seed

The South Region of the 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket may well belong to the Kentucky Wildcats. John Calipari's Wildcats are the No. 1 overall seed in the tournament, and get a bracket that sets up nicely for them, with what could be a short road to the Final Four consisting of an in-state trip to Louisville and a drive down to Atlanta.

The Wildcats got favorable No. 2 and No. 3 seeds, too: No. 2 Duke and No. 3 Baylor are less imposing than some of the other teams on those seed lines. But they may have a tougher round of 32 game than most teams, with No. 9 UConn looming. Elsewhere in the South, No. 5 Wichita State and No. 12 VCU meet in the second round in a tussle of mid-majors, and No. 10 Xavier breezed into the tournament after being considered a bubble team in recent weeks.

Here's the full South Region bracket for the 2012 NCAA Tournament:

No. 1 Kentucky
No. 16 Mississippi Valley State OR Western Kentucky

No. 8 Iowa State
No. 9 UConn

No. 5 Wichita State
No. 12 VCU

No. 4 Indiana
No. 13 New Mexico State

No. 6 UNLV
No. 11 Colorado

No. 3 Baylor
No. 14 South Dakota State

No. 7 Notre Dame
No. 10 Xavier

No. 2 Duke
No. 15 Lehigh

Other NCAA Tournament Regions: East | Midwest | West

NCAA Bracket 2012: East Region Headlined By Syracuse Orange

The East Region of the 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket may well belong to the Syracuse Orange. The Orange are the second No. 1 seed in the Tournament, behind the Kentucky Wildcats, who are the overall No. 1.

Syracuse are heavy favorites in their bracket, which also includes No. 2 seeds Ohio St. Buckeyes. The Orange finished their 2011-12 season with a 31-2 record, going 17-1 in the Big East.

Here's the full East Region bracket for the 2012 NCAA Tournament:

No. 1 Syracuse
No. 16 UNC Asheville

No. 8 Kansas State
No. 9 Southern Miss

No. 5 Vanderbilt
No. 12 Harvard

No. 4 Wisconsin
No. 13 Montana

No. 2 Ohio State
No. 15 Loyola

No. 7 Gonzaga
No. 10 West Virginia

No. 3 Florida State
No. 14 St. Bonaventure

No. 6 Cincinnati
No. 11 Texas

NCAA Tournament 2012 Schedule And Bracket: First Four Begins Tuesday

The 2012 NCAA Tournament's First Four will pit eight of the most marginal teams selected to the 68-team field against each other for four spots in the second round of 64 teams, and it will take place in Dayton, Ohio, Tuesday and Wednesday. On Tuesday, March's madness truly tips off with Western Kentucky taking on Mississippi Valley State and Iona matching up with BYU.

The Hilltoppers and Delta Devils are No. 16 seeds, and maybe most notable for their outstanding match-up of monikers. Even with a win on Tuesday, neither team is likely to be the first No. 16 to topple a No. 1 on Thursday, especially considering that No. 1 is top overall seed Kentucky.

The second First Four game on Tuesday is likely to be one of the most fast-paced contests of the 2012 NCAA Tournament. Both No. 14 Iona and No. 14 BYU love to run, and then run, and possibly run a bit more, and each could conceivably threaten triple digits in points on the night.

Here's the full 2012 NCAA Tournament schedule for Tuesday:

First Four

South Region

No. 16 Western Kentucky vs. No. 16 Mississippi Valley State, 6:40 p.m. Eastern (truTV). Winner plays No. 1 Kentucky on Thursday.

West Region

No. 14 Iona vs. No. 14 BYU, 9:10 p.m. Eastern (truTV). Winner plays No. 3 Marquette on Thursday.

For more on the 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket, stay with SB Nation's Selection Sunday StoryStream, and stick around SB Nation's NCAA Tournament hub for a complete printable NCAA Tournament bracket and tons of analysis on who was snubbed, who got the best bracket, and who will make it all the way to New Orleans and the Final Four.

NCAA Bracket Predictions: Breaking Down Each Region And Looking For A Winner

After a weekend of conference tournament chaos and an hour of selections on Sunday night, March Madness is finally here. All over America on Monday morning, college hoops fans are filling out brackets, reading up on a year's worth of college hoops news, flipping a coin between teams like VCU and Wichita State, and trying to remember their passwords to CBS Sports.

It's an annual tradition.

And since chaos is part of the charm, let's do this all at once. We're going to pick every game this year, along with some half-baked analysis along the way, and then we'll see what happens. I'm not a college basketball "expert," but I've watched a decent amount this year, and I'm at least willing to make myself look stupid for the sake of everyone else. Maybe you'll find this useful in general, or maybe you'll find it useful in a, "whoa, not doing what THAT GUY says" kinda way.

We'll start with the Final Four.

South -- Kentucky

West -- Mizzou

East -- Ohio St.

Midwest -- North Carolina

People (read: me) usually make the most mistakes with March Madness by poring over first and second-round matchups. Sometimes I'll pick a team to pull of a few upsets, and as I'm writing them into each new round, it'll be like, N.C. State and Kansas, and after writing N.C. State into the Sweet 16, I'll find myself thinking, "Ehhh... Why not?" This is pretty stupid. You're better off picking the four best teams in each region and working backwards.

Kentucky advances because John Calipari is #Illuminati and Anthony Davis is an alien. Mizzou advances because Michigan State really isn't that great (right?) and neither is anyone else in the West. Ohio State advances because they've been favored the past two years and failed, now everyone's writing them off and ... It just feels right. And Carolina advances because I'm a Carolina fan. And also because they've got the best point guard in the field, the most talent of anyone this side of Kentucky, and John Henson is due to turn himself into a top five pick this month.

Important Reminder: I'm not a college basketball expert, and at least 50 percent of this logic will look completely ridiculous just five days from now. Now then: Let's take this region-by-region.

RELATED: Printable NCAA Tournament Bracket | More Predictions

EAST REGIONAL

Round Of 64 Winners: Syracuse, Kansas State, Vanderbilt, Montana, Texas, Florida State, West Virginia and Ohio State. Analysis: We're taking K-State over Southern Miss because Frank Martin is Frank Martin, and Frank Martin is the best. Vandy beats Harvard because a.) Tommy Amaker went to Duke, and b.) the Linsanity bubble exploded two weeks ago. We're taking Montana because a friend of mine played basketball there. I don't have any friends who played basketball at Wisconsin, but if I did, I'd ask them, "why must Bo Ryan make me hate basketball every year?" We're taking Texas because the Big East is overrated. FSU because Leonard Hamilton IS Bunny Colvin, and that's somebody everyone can root for. And West Virginia because Gonzaga got totally screwed.

Round of 32 Winners: Syracuse, Vandy, FSU and Ohio State. Analysis: Syracuse has been overrated all year and is totally due for an upset, but they'll be good enough to get past K State. Vandy beats Montana because FESTUS F***ING EZELI. FSU beats Texas because Rick Barnes is who you thought he was. And Ohio State beats West Virginia because even Bob Huggins (or Kevin Jones) is no match for Jared Sullinger's ass.

Sweet 16 Winners: Vandy, Ohio State. Analysis: DOWN GOES SYRACUSE DOWN GOES SYRACUSE. If you look at Syracuse's tournament history, they've been pretty underwhelming since Melo carried them to a national title. Fab Melo had seven points and six rebounds in Syracuse's win over UConn last week. Fab Melo is not Melo. Meanwhile, Festus Ezeli once told Andy Katz, "My first name is Ifeanyi, and that means 'nothing is impossible with God.' That sets the tone for my journey while I'm alive." Does <strike>Curtis</strike> Kris Joseph's first name mean "nothing is impossible?"

On the other side, Ohio State can beat up FSU down low, and barring the insane three-point shooting they put on North Carolina this Sunday, the 'Noles don't have enough to counter on offense.

Elite 8 Winner: Ohio State. Analysis: I really want to pick Vandy here, but Kevin Stallings is Kevin from The Office, and for all the herculean ridiculousness of Festus Ezeli, he won't be enough to neutralize Deshaun Thomas AND Jared Sullinger. Now, moving on...

MIDWEST REGIONAL

Round of 64 Winners: UNC, Alabama, Temple, Michigan, NC State, Georgetown, St. Mary's and Kansas. Analysis: Alabama advances because Nick Saban is #Illuminati. Temple advances because Fran Dunphy is Phil's brother, and the ghost of John Chaney is not to be f***ed with. Michigan moves on because Trey Burke and Tim Hardaway Jr. are two of the most enjoyable players in college hoops. N.C. State beats San Diego State because you can't not root for the team in this video. St. Mary's wins because they're the new Gonzaga, the team that always shows up in March and leaves people scratching their heads. And finally, Georgetown wins because I'm too scared to pick Belmont, even though I want to.

Round of 32 Winners: UNC, Michigan, NC State, Kansas. Analysis: UNC takes down 'Bama because this isn't football. Michigan takes down Temple because John Beilein teams are so terrifying in the tournament, even the ghost of John Chaney is no match. N.C. State beats Georgetown because John Thompson III Hoyas teams are the opposite of John Beilein teams in the tournament. Kansas wins because Thomas Robinson belongs in the Sweet 16.

Sweet 16 Winners: UNC, Kansas. Analysis: A KU-UNC Elite Eight game seems too good to be true, but KU is too good to lose to St. Marys, right? Or NCSU? Or even Georgetown? The biggest impediment is Michigan against Carolina, but here's to betting the Heels figure it out.

Elite 8 Winner: UNC. Analysis: Thomas Robinson is great, but I'm convinced that everyone who's ever praised Tyshawn Taylor has never actually watched him play basketball. Kendall Marshall is on a different level in the backcourt, Ghostface Zella will be enough to match anything Robinson does up front, and in a game this hyped, there's at least a 50 percent chance Harrison Barnes will show up and be Harrison Barnes for the entire time.

WEST REGIONAL

Round of 64 Winners: Michigan State, Memphis, Long Beach State, Louisville, Murray State, Marquette, Florida and Missouri. Analysis: Memphis because we should never forget that Josh Pastner is going to rule the world someday. Long Beach State because Clipper Darrell said so. Louisville because there's no way Pitino gets upset two years in a row, right? Murray State because I have no idea why they're seeded so high, but there's gotta be some reason, right? Marquette because ... I guess so? Florida because Bradley Beal and Kenny Boyton are both pretty fantastic.

Round of 32 Winners: Michigan State, Louisville, Murray State, Missouri. Analysis: Tom Izzo teams are terrifying in March, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt against Memphis. Peyton Siva belongs in the Sweet 16, so Louisville wins. Murray State wins because Marquette feels like just the sort of empty three-seed that could give us a Cinderella this year. And Mizzou beats Florida because they're quicker, tougher, and better. I think.

Sweet 16 Winners: Michigan State, Missouri. Analysis: I really wanted to pick Louisville, but the Cards really aren't that impressive beyond Peyton Siva, and again, Tom Izzo sold his soul about ten years ago and has been reaping inexplicable March rewards ever since. Meanwhile, Mizzou is the best team in this bracket, so they can handle Murray State.

Elite 8 Winner: Missouri. Analysis: They've been one of the best teams in the country all year. Kim English and Draymond Greene both feel like they've been in college for seven years, but English is the better player. Let's be honest though, this is all a gut feeling.

SOUTH REGIONAL

Round of 64 Winners: Kentucky, UConn, Witchita State, Indiana, Colorado, Baylor, Xavier and Duke. Analysis: Anytime everyone on a talented team appears to hate each other, anything is possible. UConn could lose by 20 against Iowa St, or maybe beat Kentucky. For now, we'll hedge and put them in the second round. Wichita State beats VCU because this is going to be everyone's upset pick. Indiana wins because Tom Crean married into the #Illuminati. Colorado wins because UNLV is just .500 since February 4th, and destined to faceplant this weekend. Meanwhile, Xavier advances because they're the perfect team to beat Duke in the next round.

Round of 32 Winners: Kentucky, Witchita St., Baylor, Xavier. Analysis: UConn is just good enough to threaten Kentucky, but in the battle of Andre Drummond and Anthony Davis, it feels like a game where Drummond spends 30 minutes of the game in foul trouble, and things get ugly down the stretch. Meanwhile, Wichita St. can take down Indiana because it's time for America to fall in love with the Shockers again. Baylor can get past Colorado because they're the best three seed in the field. And Xavier beats Duke because they're more athletic, Tu Holloway is tougher AND smarter than Austin Rivers, and most importantly, it's just fun to bet against Duke.

Sweet 16 Winners: Kentucky, Baylor. Analysis: Wichita State and Kentucky is billed as a fun battle of small-time vs. big-time, but then Kentucky destroys the Shockers and makes it uncomfortable for everyone. Meanwhile, Baylor just has too much talent for Xavier.

Elite Eight Winner: Kentucky. Analysis: Baylor is like an off-brand Kentucky. Not a poor-man's version, just ... Pretty much the exact same formula, but without the branding advantages and benefit of the doubt. This should be a great game, but I can't bet against Anthony Davis. Yet.

FINAL FOUR

Picks: UNC over Ohio State, Kentucky over Mizzou, UNC over Kentucky. Against Ohio State, John Henson's length should give Jared Sullinger a nice preview of life in the NBA, and assuming everyone else stays healthy, the Heels win just about every other matchup on the court. On the other side, Kentucky's got too much size for Missouri, and they're also one of the only teams in America that can match Mizzou's athleticism all over the court.

As for the final, it'll be a close game that comes down to the final few minutes, and at that point it's a toss up. It's too bad these teams can't play a seven game series to decide this. North Carolina lost by one point to Kentucky on the road this year, and there's no team in the country with a better chance at matching Kentucky blow for blow down the stretch, every single game. But most importantly, I'm a shameless Carolina homer, so why not let it ride, ya know?

NCAA Bracket 2012 Reactions: Seton Hall Was Snubbed, But Still Keeps It Classy

The 2012 NCAA Tournament bracket was released on Sunday evening with the Big East securing the most bids of any conference. It wasn't particularly surprising, but considering the Big 12 and Big Ten conferences were second-best with six teams apiece, that's a pretty solid performance.

The Big East could have made a case to put 11 teams into the bracket, however, as the Seton Hall Pirates had a solid shot at making it after being on the bubble for most of the past month. That didn't stop our Seton Hall bloggers over at South Orange Juice from being classy upon finding out their team wouldn't be in the Big Dance.

I think I speak for all of us at South Orange Juice in saying that although we're all extremely disappointed, we're still very proud of what the Pirates accomplished this season in just Kevin Willard's second year at the helm. Willard brought this program an incredible way in just two years at Seton Hall, to even be in the, "bubble" discussion everyday of the last week.

Despite failing at the ultimate goal of making the NCAA Tournament, Seton Hall University has been in the national spotlight and discussion for much of the last three weeks, certainly a better position than where we found our name two years ago.

It's good to see that even though the Pirates were snubbed, the fans are keeping it cool and not burning couches or whatever the college kids do these days. Bravo, Seton Hall.

NCAA Bracket Reaction: Five Over-Seeded And Under-Seeded Teams

In terms of job performance reviews, the NCAA Tournament selection committee is essentially an officiating crew: "You guys did a good job, but a couple of things ..." is pretty much the best they can hope for.

If mild criticism is the goal, it seems this morning as if the selection committee deserves high marks, because the 2012 bracket has sparked less outrage than any in recent memory. Beefs with the inclusion of Iona and BYU over fellow bubble contenders like Drexel and Seton Hall seem to be the only quibbles that are consistently popping up.

I'd direct a "good job" to the committee, but that still feels wrong. Instead, let's nitpick and talk about the teams that were -- however moderately -- over-seeded and under-seeded.

Over-Seeded

1. Colorado (11 - South)

There was no debate over whether or not the Buffaloes were playing for their NCAA Tournament lives during the Pac-12 championship game on Saturday. So if they had no shot at earning an at-large bid, doesn't it stand to reason that they should be seeded below every at-large that did make the field? I feel like this situation occurs at least once a year and I never understand it.

2. Southern Mississippi (9 - East)

There's no question the Golden Eagles belong in the field, but beating Memphis at home in early Febuary is essentially the only noteworthy thing they've done since New Year's. The committee disrespected Conference USA with its seeding of Memphis and by not giving Marshall more of a look, but it's giving the league too much credit by handing Southern Miss. a single-digit seed.

3. Georgetown (3 - Midwest)

It's probably only a line higher than it should be (not an excuse that should be used in daily life, by the way), but Georgetown was the five seed in the Big East Tournament where it was knocked off in the quarterfinals. It just seems like a three is a bit too much of a reward for those accomplishments, especially considering the weakened state of the conference this season.

4. UNLV (6 - South)

The Runnin' Rebels are more than capable of doing significant damage this week, but a 9-5 record in the Mountain West seemed to beg for a seed of no better than seven. That win over North Carolina was a long time ago, but it likely played a major role here.

5. Texas (11 - East)

The Longhorns had to have (or should have) been one of the last teams to sneak into the field, which means the 12 line should have been their rightful home.

Under-Seeded

1. Memphis (8 - West)

The Tigers played the type of non-conference schedule that the committee consistently rewarded on Sunday, and they absolutely dominated Conference USA over the final month and-a-half of the season. Sliding Memphis into the 8/9 death game doesn't seem fair to either them or the region's No. 1 seed, Michigan State.

2. Murray State (6 - West)

It's tough to argue with less from either side considering the extreme rarity of a team from such a weak conference with such a sparkling record, yet I'm going to do it anyway. My argument: 30-1, bros.

3. Harvard (12 - East)

The Crimson won the Battle 4 Atlantis, they played tough non-conference games away from home and they won the Ivy League title outright. It seemed like an 11 or 10 would have been more appropriate. Sorry, Vanderbilt.

4. Detroit (15 - Kansas)

I'm not saying Ray McCallum Jr. and company are going to shock Kansas or anything, but they're certainly a tougher draw than the Jayhawks should have earned. In case you missed the last two tournaments, the Horizon League champion is capable of doing some damage.

5. Florida (7 - West)

This seems like a make-up seeding for giving the Gators a two they absolutely did not deserve a year ago. Or maybe the SEC's just really bad. Definitely one of the two.

Is This The Least Controversial NCAA Tournament Field Ever?

Hooray for March Madness, the most humbling time of year for sports know-it-alls. Even though there's no relation between winning your office pool and knowing anything about basketball, chances are you've embarked upon this column looking for answers. By the end, you'll realize I <strike>don't know anything either</strike> have a lot more to think about.

Bomani's Bracketology

Yeah, that's it...

Kentucky, Syracuse and North Carolina are still as good as you thought before last week. It wasn't a great weekend for the top three seeds of the NCAA Tournament. Syracuse and UNC each lost in their conference tournaments, as did the previously untouchable Kentucky. So what does that mean? Well, if a team shoots over 59 percent from the field and goes 11-22 from three-point range like Florida State did Sunday, it has a great chance to beat North Carolina.

If your favorite team has a big man like Festus Ezeli to make Anthony Davis pay for helping with penetrators, and Kentucky shoots 36 percent from the floor, the Wildcats will be in trouble like they were against Vanderbilt. And Syracuse, so long as it runs that cowardly zone, will be vulnerable against a hot-shooting team like Cincinnati was Friday. In other words, stuff we knew already. UK and UNC are still the two most dangerous teams in the bracket, and Syracuse is the same tricky pick it is every year. You may now return to filling out your chalk bracket.

This may have been the least controversial bubble ever. Given the mediocrity of college basketball's soft underbelly, there's no more annoying annual controversy than who didn't make the NCAA Tournament. Sure, VCU found a way to the Final Four after being a questionable at-large selection last year, but there isn't an excluded team with a gripe worth hearing. The closest thing to a snub this year is Drexel, with nothing more than a home win over 12-seed VCU to brag about. You know the Dance is just as big as it needs to be when N.C. State fans saw their snake-bitten Wolfpack were the 68th team announced. When there's room for the Pack to get the long end of the stick, it's time for the fire marshal to shut the door behind them.

RELATED: Printable NCAA Tournament Bracket

Congrats on the 6-seed, Cincy. Who’s looking forward to hearing announcers gush about Mick Cronin keeping the Bearcats' heads in the season? I’m not. Same goes for Pat Knight.

Did you think Dan Snyder would lose out on Peyton Manning and RG3? It’s simple: the Redskins didn’t just need a quarterback. They needed someone other than their egomaniacal owner and head coach to be the face of the franchise. So, they traded a piece of their future for what they haven’t had since Lawrence Taylor debacled Joe Theismann. Michael David Smith noted Washington gave up more than the Giants did to draft Eli Manning and the Falcons did to draft Michael Vick. Both trades proved to be worth it, as the Giants won two Super Bowls with Manning, and Vick made the Falcons consistently relevant for the first time in their history. Can Griffin pull both tricks? Absolutely. He’ll just have to topple Manning and Vick along the way.

And Griffin might do just that. There’s no telling how long Mike Shanahan will be in Washington, but can you imagine how dangerous Griffin would be in a scheme based on stretch runs and bootlegs? Hell, do you remember how good Jake Plummer was in that scheme? Or the success Shanny had with athletic quarterbacks Steve Young and John Elway? There’s a reason the Falcons brought in former Shanahan assistant Alex Gibbs to add leg whipping elements of that scheme during the Vick era. Had Vick been able to throw, the Falcons offense could have been revolutionary. Unlike Vick, who threw 342 passes in college, Griffin is ready to be a pro passer, and there’s cap space to get him someone to throw to besides the ageless Santana Moss and better options than Vick’s limited weaponry in Atlanta.

Great for the Rams ... probably. Talk about being at the right place at the right time. The Rams now move down just four slots in the draft, now have three of the first 39 selections in the 2012 draft, and own two first rounders in 2013 and 2014. That sounds great ... until you realize St. Louis hasn't drafted a Pro Bowl player since Steven Jackson in 2004. Someone in the building must remember how little the franchise got from the seven picks it received for Eric Dickerson. The Rams came up big with the trade, but whether or not this deal's a steal depends entirely on their own competence.

The idea of Peyton Manning in Denver makes me chuckle. Smart money still seems to be on Manning signing with the Dolphins -- regardless of this educated guess -- but the Broncos’ desperate attempt to sign him is easily the most hilarious subplot of the sweepstakes. The Season of Tim Tebow will be remembered for the rampant willingness to ignore the eye test, statistics and the good sense to use them both when evaluating a quarterback’s worth. Now, it seems, John Elway wants to push Mr. Find-A-Way-To-Win to the side for an algorithmic quarterback who, since college, has had to fight the notion that he racks up great regular season statistics but struggles to find wins when it "matters." And, if you wanna be technical about it, Tebow has a better postseason record than Manning. But guess what? Not a single one of those people would want Tebow over Manning. So if you’re jumping off the mystical Tebow bandwagon now, when a technically superior option is available, why were you on board in the first place?

OK, there’s maybe one Manning scenario funnier. Titans owner Bud Adams wants Peyton Manning in Tennessee. We know this because he told his underlings, and then told the world he told his underlings. The problem is that Titans GM Ruston Webster has said he’s happy with current starter Matt Hasselbeck and quarterback of the future Jake Locker. Webster’s problem? Trying to tell an 89-year-old man about his two or three-year plan. At his age, it’s ambitious for Adams to plan for two or three o’clock. This may all pass, but anyone who’s tried to get an octogenarian to change the channel can't help but chuckle.

Mark Sanchez's agent must be a magician. I bet, had Sanchez signed that $58 million extension any faster, that his signature would look an EKG. It was one thing for Rex Ryan to stop proclaiming his team would win the Super Bowl. It was another to take such a big step toward ensuring that wouldn't happen. People go over the top when they bash Sanchez, but it couldn't be clearer that he's as replaceable as they come. Which means the Jets needed to replace him, not double down and put more pressure on a guy who may not be equipped to handle it.

The continuing story of LeBron James in the clutch. LeBron scored eight points in the last 1:05 of regulation Saturday night against Indiana, including a three to tie the game with 10 seconds left. In overtime, he hit a triple to bring the Heat within two and assisted on Chris Bosh's game-typing jumper with 1:02 left. Then, after missing a three with 24 seconds left, Dwyane Wade hit a jumper with 0.1 seconds left to win it for Miami. The great clutch play to win the game was a heave, the last act of Wade's attempt to draw a bail-out foul. So what does all of this mean? The same as the All-Star Game and LeBron's pass in Utah -- nothing.

NCAA Tournament Selection Show GIFs: Where Babies Are In Harm's Way

The live look-ins on Selection Sunday are the best part of the NCAA Tournament bracket reveal. Sandwiched between the rather pointless analysis and drawn-out bracket announcements, CBS always cuts to teams that make the field to catch their reactions in real-time. While it would be better to see awkward green room footage of bubble teams sweating it out, perhaps with a montage of snubs breaking things, these reaction shots of pure joy are always excellent.

So excellent, in fact, that we've compiled some of the best and worst from Selection Sunday. There are GIFs after the jump. Lots and lots of GIFs. Strap in.

Look at the sleeping baby in the middle of it all. Everyone around the young child erupts, but it doesn't even faze the kid. Also notice the woman next to the baby. In her jubilation, she completely forgets she's next to a fragile child and nearly does some serious damage. This GIF is clearly the winner for so many reasons.

I'm not convinced this was actually a reaction shot. I think Iowa State was caught doing the wave.

Didn't even take the net off. Fashion statement? I think so.

Check out Frank Haith here, just hanging out and staring up at the Jumbotron. Someone also needs to tell Missouri to pay attention instead of looking up at the big screen. Especially you three in the middle there. You're missing out on all the fun.

Another GIF, another young child in the mix. John Groce almost gives his son whiplash while forgetting YO THERE'S A YOUNG BOY ON YOUR LAP.

This is like those awkward standing ovations you sometimes see at awards shows. People start to stand, then it's a slow burn as the rest of the crowd kind of figures it out. Murray State is the Grammys of NCAA Tournament celebrations.

I was half expecting Harvard players do be doing homework in a quiet study hall when the camera cut to them.

And here we have New Mexico winning the Selection Sunday dance off. Excellence in choreography.

Look at the screens in the back. Was VCU at a bowling alley?

Kansas just doesn't even give a damn. I've seen better crowd reactions at golf tournaments.

Join our 2012 NCAA Bracket pool to compete against the best and brightest from around the network.
