Alpine Skiing

Section-alpine

This sport has a very basic concept: Start at the top of the hill and ski down it as fast as possible while weaving through gates (Super G) or poles (Slalom). Fastest athlete to the bottom, wins. It's also possibly the most exciting to watch, as skiers fly at over 80 MPH down a run that mere mortals would buy a t-shirt for conquering. Oh, and the crashes: They are spectacular and terrifying, as you can imagine.

Bode Miller Finally Wins Elusive Olympic Gold

American alpine skier Bode Miller, who infamously seemed more concerned with partying than winning medals in the 2006 Winter Games (he'd leave Turin without a single piece of hardware), has now won three medals in Vancouver, including his first ever gold.
