One of the most ancient of Winter Olympics sports, Cross Country dates as far back as 6,000 years ago when hunters used skis along the flat tundras of what is now Russia. Now people just do it for fun. There are several different events, ranging from sprints to epic 30K pursuits, all of which are competed individually and in team relays.
