Speed skating, traditionally America’s best sport in the Winter Games, has changed a lot since its inception on the frozen canals of Amsterdam in the 13th century. Namely, it’s gone from iron skates on wooden shoes to the fastest human powered, non-mechanical aided sport in the world. But one constant has remained: the Dutch still dominate.
