Cagliari vs Catania, Preview: Sardinian Arena IS finally open for business

Enrico Locci

Cagliari are having a party and everyone is invited.

To celebrate the belated opening of the entire IS Arenas, the Sardinians have slashed ticket prices for the ‘Curva' to €1.

Last weekend's 4-1 hammering at the hands of Fiorentina ended Cagliari's four game winning streak, handing new coaching duo Ivo Pulga and Diego Lopez their first loss in charge. It will be interesting to see how their side responds and whether Pulga sticks to his 4-3-1-2 system.

Catania put their recent refereeing troubles behind them as they took their frustrations out on the pitch, giving shell-shocked Lazio a 4-0 hiding. To no-one's surprise, Rolando Maran is expected to stick with the attacking 4-3-3 formation which tore Lazio apart.

Gonzalo Bergessio is battling to recover from a calf injury which forced him off prematurely against Lazio. Should he not recover in time, Takayuki Morimoto or last week's replacement Souleymane Doukara could fill in.

Cagliari report a clean bill of health and welcome back club captain Daniele Conti and midfielder Radja Nainggolan from suspension. Five places may separate the teams in the table, but Catania are only a point ahead of their hosts.

Cagliari completed the league double over their visitors last season, winning 3-0 at home and 1-0 on the road.
