VIDEO: Cristiano Ronaldo Gives Physics The Middle Finger
Physics are supposed to be a basic law of the world, but apparently Cristiano Ronaldo thinks he doesn't have to obey any such laws and guess what? He's right. The Real Madrid player gave physics the middle finger with his goal against Levante on Sunday, hitting the piss out of a ball from 25 yards that fired over the head of the goalkeeper, then somehow dropped like a rock below the bar for a goal and almost hit the ground before it even hit the net. It just doesn't make sense.

VIDEO: Zambia Proves Why Sports Are Better Than Anything Else, Always
It's really easy to make way too big of a deal about sports. They are just games and soccer is just a game where 22 guys run around and kick the ball around. It isn't a matter of life and death and it isn't really of any great importance, so why do we love it so much? Because of moments like the one in Gabon on Sunday when Zambia topped Ivory Coast to win their very first Africa Cup of Nations title.
The drama for 120 minutes of action plus penalties was unmatched. The quality of play was fantastic and it had all the ebbs, flows, peaks and valleys that you could ask for. There were the incredible plays and the mind-blowing missed opportunities, like Didier Drogba skying what could have been the winning penalty in the 70th minute. In the end, it went to a thrilling penalty shootout, where Zambia triumphed 19 years after their entire team and manager were killed in a plane crash.

VIDEO: Didier Drogba Skies Would-Be Africa Cup Of Nations Winning Penalty
It was all set up perfectly for the Ivory Coast. A penalty and Didier Drogba to take it with their second ever trophy on the line. If the best player that the country has ever produced could score from 12 yards out then they would be winners of the 2012 Africa Cup of Nations, their first trophy since the 1992 Cup of Nations. Only Drogba didn't score it. He didn't even come close.

Seven Months After Becoming A Country, South Sudan Gets FIFA Membership
On July 8 of last year, South Sudan wasn't even a country. Now, they are a country and even more important than being a United Nations member state, they are also a member of FIFA and the Confederation of African Football (CAF). On Friday, FIFA president Sepp Blatter and CAF president Issa Hayatou welcomed the national into the world of football and while it was a major step for football in the young nation, there was also that cold splash of reality.

Hey Guys, Alex Morgan Is Posing In Paint For Sports Illustrated
Queue up the fanboys, everyone's favorite soccer starlet has joined the "not really posing in the nude but almost is" club. Alex Morgan, the breakout starlet of the most recent Women's World Cup, has decided to do the whole bodypaint thing for Sports Illustrated's soon-to-be-released swimsuit issue.
You know what? Cool for her. United States teammate Hope Solo managed to pull off essentially posing nude when she was in last year's ESPN Body Issue last year and it seems to have only helped her image. It would be great if we lived in a world where women athletes doing this kind of thing wasn't a big deal, but we do.

Corinthians Sentences Adriano To House Arrest For Being Fat
If you thought house arrest was a punishment for perjury or other, you know, crimes, think again. You can be put on house arrest for being fat, or at least you can if you're a professional footballer. Former really awesome footballer and current overweight, training-missing Corinthians footballer Adriano has been put on house arrest for packing on the pounds.
Adriano will have to stay in a hotel at the team's training complex where he will only be able to eat what the training staff provides for him. He'll also train three times per day. The club is hoping that he can get fit enough to actually play, which he hasn't done much of this year. Crazy concept.

At Stamford Bridge, Spelling Is As Off As Passing
So far, the opening half an hour hasn't been the quality football that we expect from these two sides, with both sides passing poor, as well as their off the ball movement. Howard Webb waved away 4 sure fouls in a minute, including a probable last man foul from debutant Gary Cahill. Alex Ferguson looks like he's wearing a habit, and Chelsea's goal was a deflection off Jonny Evans. To add to the comedy of errors, Chelsea appear to not know how to spell their own team name, with their advertising boards directing viewers to visit "chelsefc.co.uk".

PHOTO: Stamford Bridge A Winter Wonderland Covered In Snow
Postponement due to snow wouldn't be new to Chelsea and Manchester United. The two teams had their match at Stamford Bridge postponed last year when snow shut down transport and made travel to the stadium for supporters unsafe, even if the pitch was still playable. Now they might face the same thing as snow has covered Stamford Bridge ahead of Sunday's clash between the Blues and Red Devils, leading some to speculate that it might have to be postponed like last year's match was.
A picture from inside Stamford Bridge just before midnight on Saturday won't do much to ease concerns. The place is covered in snow, or for those of you who like to look on the bright side of life, it's a winter wonderland.
