Manchester City-Newcastle: Hatem Ben Arfa Off Injured After Nigel De Jong Challenge

Newcastle attacker Hatem Ben Afra has had to be removed in the seventh minute of the Magpies’ match at Eastlands after a third minute challenge from Manchester City midfielder Nigel de Jong.

De Jong went to ground on the Marseille loanee, sliding into Ben Arfa’s ankle. After four minutes on the ground, Ben Arfa was subbed-out of the match, replaced by Wayne Routledge (who was benched for Jonas Gutierrez to start the match).

Moments after his tackle on Ben Arfa, de Jong was seen chastising Magpie midfielder Cheikh Tiote for a challenge on James Milner. Milner was not hurt.
