Fabio Quagliarella To Miss The Rest Of Season, Juventus Fast-Track Signing Of Luca Toni To Replace The Forward

Fabio Quagliarella is out for the rest of the season with a torn cruciate knee ligament. The Juventus striker and Italy international lasted just three minutes on the pitch against Parma on Thursday before needing to be stretchered off after severely twisting his knee. In the absence of the forward, who has scored nine goals in seventeen Serie A matches this season, Juventus lost the match 4-1.

The Old Lady slipped to fifth in the Serie A table with the loss and are in desperate need of another striker if they want to continue challenging for the scudetto. Fortunately, the club were already in talks to sign former Italy striker Luca Toni from Genoa, who will put pen to paper pending a successful medical on Friday. With just three goals in 16 matches, however, the 33-year-old veteran might not be enough to fulfill Juventus's ambitions.

To make matters worse for the Bianconeri, midfielder Felipe Melo has been banned for three games after kicking Parma defender Massimo Paci in the face during Thursday's match.
