It should have been a night of celebration. Torino had just beaten Hellas Verona 3-1, putting themselves three points clear of Padova at the top of Serie B. The team were headed back to Turin when a stolen truck hit a car, pushing it underneath the bus. Two were confirmed dead (presumably in the car) but the players and others on the bus were unharmed. Still, it's hard to imagine that a car getting lodged under the bus didn't at least rattle some nerves, you know?
In other Serie B news, Juve Stabia, just promoted this season, won their fourth consecutive match, 2-1 over Ascoli, who are dead last. Of the clubs relegated from Serie A last season, Brescia is faring best, in fourth with 16 points. Sampdoria were booed by their own fans after a disappointing 1-1 draw against Sassuolo. Bari, meanwhile, are likely to be content with Serie B for awhile. i Galletti lost 3-1 to Reggina, who are moving swiftly up the table. Finally, Albinoleffe collapsed at home against Livorno, with the visitors taking all three points after a 4-0 win.
