Apostolos Vellios, subbed on to replace Louis Saha in the 80th minute, has scored for Everton, his second goal proving that yes, perhaps the Toffees do indeed have a striker amongst their ranks. Sure, an 81st minute goal when your team is down three will likely not save the day, but it at least gives Everton fans some hope, and hope is what they most need right now.
On the pitch just 18 seconds, Vellios got on the end of a Royston Drenthe cross (who himself was a substitute, brought on for Seamus Coleman), sliding in to knock the ball past Petr Cech. Poor Cech, poor Chelsea -- they were so close to keeping that clean sheet that has alluded them for so long now. But unless Everton pull off something truly magical, all three points are Chelsea's, which will pull them within one point of Manchester United, currently in second place.
