One, two, three goals for Olympiakos and a thorough 3-1 win to the home side has Borussia Dortmund in trouble. After playing attractive and fun football en route to the Bundesliga crown a year ago, many expected the young and entertaining side to be a breath of fresh air for the UEFA Champions League, but now they sit at the bottom of Group F, five points out of second place.
Olympiakos kicked off the scoring with a great cross from Ivan Marcano that found Jose Holebas in the center. The German nodded the ball home and the hosts were in front. Dortmund had an answer thanks to a great cross by Mario Gotze and fantastic finish by Robert Lewandowski though. Lewandowski used one touch to settle Gotze's cross at the top of the box then slid the ball home just barely inside the post to level the score.
It looked like Dortmund might be able to get to halftime with the score level, but Rafik Djebbour didn't let that happen, although he had some help from poor defending. He was allowed to get a pass in the box then dribble in a circle to make space for himself before finishing to put Olympiakos back on top, while the Dortmund defense just watched. A late goal by Francois Modesto sealed the win and Olympiakos had their first points of the competition, while Dortmund sunk to the cellar.
