Bolton Wanderers Vs. Chelsea: Bolton Must Be Wondering If There's A Mercy Rule In Football

Stay connected with SB Nation

Eddie Davies looks like a man who needs some extra-strength migraine medicine. Owen Coyle appears to wish he was on a tropical vacation, sipping pastel colored drinks with brightly colored umbrellas stuck in. In fact, it wouldn't surprise me at all if the Bolton Wanderers owner and manager simply slipped away at the halftime break, perhaps to check themselves into a mental asylum. Or just a pub.

Chelsea are running wild over Bolton at the Reebok, leading 4-0, and only 30 minutes have passed. Both Daniel Sturridge and Frank Lampard have scored braces, with their seconds coming within two minutes of each other. David Luiz got behind the Bolton defense to slide the ball out to Sturridge on the right, who put his shot to the near post. Adam Bogdan tried his best to save, but only succeeded in pushing it into the net.

Lampard's goal, meanwhile, came courtesy of another Bogdan mishap, with him only able to parry away David Luiz's shot. The ball fell to the Chelsea midfielder, who put it in the back of the net with an emphatic "I told you so" to the English media.

Well done to Andres Villas-Boas for handing David Luiz his first Premier League start of the season.
