Itay Shechter scored the only goal of the match to send Kaiserslautern on the way to their second straight win in the Bundesliga.
The Israeli international scored when Martin Amedick flicked on a long throw in during the 75th minute. Shechter had just been denied minutes before when his shot struck the underside of the crossbar and bounced down on to the goal line. The goal was Shechter's third of the season.
A few minutes after Shechter's goal, FCK were awarded a penalty when Freiburg goalkeeper Oliver Baumann felled Shechter in the box. Christian Tiffert stepped up to take the spot kick, but Baumann dove to his left and made a brilliant save on the attempt. It was the first penalty save of the 21 year old's career.
With the loss, Freiburg are now dead last in the table. The club has managed to survive in the top flight for the previous two seasons, but their third will end in relegation if they don't find a way to turn things around.
