The chance was right there. it was on Alvaro Saborio's foot and he blew it. The striker already scored two goals in the game and had the chance at the hat trick. Fabian Espindola did all the work and he played the ball to Saborio for the finish to make it 3-0 in favor of Real Salt Lake, but Saborio just skied the shot. There's no real excuse for it. Maybe he got overexcited or maybe he lost his footing. Maybe he just screwed up. Whatever you want to chalk it up to though, Saborio should have his hat trick and RSL should be up 3-0 over the Seattle Sounders.
Instead, the Sounders are still in this one. That might be a little charitable considering how bad they have been, but only down by two goals with 20 minutes left? It's doable. Had Saborio finished and it was a three-goal deficit? Probably not so doable.
