Read More: Robbie Keane (F - LA Galaxy), New York Red Bulls, LA Galaxy
During the last international break, Ireland international and Los Angeles Galaxy striker Robbie Keane picked up an injury. It was supposed to, at the very least, keep him out through the quarterfinal round MLS Cup Playoffs and was supposed to threaten his chances of playing for Ireland during the November international break. Instead, Keane is on the field against the New York Red Bulls in the first round of a playoff series, on October 30.
Not that I want to get all sentimental and get into intangible things like "grit" and "heart", but holy crap. What a tough, determined dude. And not only tough and determined, but determined to play in an important game for a team who he's been with for a couple of months. Scoring goals makes strikers popular and well-respected, but Keane's toughness and work rate are what made him a Tottenham and Ireland legend.
I don't have any rooting interest in this game, but I'm happy for Robbie Keane.
