The Colorado Rapids' worst fears were realized when it was announced that Kosuke Kimura, Drew Moor and Caleb Folan would all miss Wednesday's MLS Cup playoff game against Sporting Kansas City, the team announced on Monday. Those three join Pablo Mastroeni, Conor Casey, Anthony Wallace and Jamie Smith on the injured list. Combined with the absence of Tyrone Marshall, who will serve a red-card suspension, the Rapids will be without all four of their first-choice starting defenders.
Kimura, Moor and Folan were all hurt during Sunday's 2-0 loss in the first leg of the Eastern Conference semifinals and came out of the match early. Of the three, Kimura seems to be the most seriously hurt. He broke his left foot on a Matt Besler tackle and will be out 4-6 weeks. Moor sprained an AC joint in his right shoulder and was able to stay in the game for awhile, but ultimately had to come out in the 60th minute. He'll be out 2-4 weeks. Folan sprained his left ankle and his left knee and is expected to miss two weeks.
