Euro 2012 Stadium Roof Catches Fire During Grand Opening

So remember how everyone was slightly worried about the infrastructure of the 2012 European Championships? Specifically, the bits that were going to be held in the Ukraine?

Yeah, the roof of the Olimpiiskyi stadium, which will host the finals following a three-year, $600M renovation, just caught fire during the venue's grand re-opening, in which 70,000 people were watching a '3D show'. I'm assuming that's Ukraine-speak for 'a play'.

I mean sure, it wasn't a very big fire - a hundred square foot section of roof was aflame, sending drops of molten plastic into the grandstands* - and it was dealt with fairly quickly, but this sort of thing isn't really very good for PR when there're already questions about the country's ability to effective host a major international tournament.

*Actually it sounds way worse when you think about it.
