Is this the fastest goal in UEFA Champions League history? It's close, but it looks like he might have just barely missed out on the record. Roy Makaay scored in 11 seconds for Bayern Munich against Real Madrid to set the record, and this goal by Jonas of Valencia is right on the edge. As of now, the general consensus among the Champions League broadcasters seems to be that this is the second fastest goal in the history of the competition. Video of Jonas blowing the roof off the Mestalla after the jump.
Earlier this season, in the first matchday of the Champions League, Pato of AC Milan scored what was erroneously dubbed by announcers as the fastest goal in the history of the competition when he scored 23 seconds into the match against Barcelona. Impressive and one of the 10 fastest ever, yes, but not even close to Makaay's 11th second strike. This one, though, might have a claim for quickest ever.
