Argentina should be 1-0 up on Bolivia after 22 minutes, but instead they're still locked up in a scoreless tie. While Lionel Messi was making a dazzling run through the center of midfield, the Barcelona star was fouled by not one, but two Bolivia defenders. The ball squirted through to an onside Gonzalo Higuain in the box and he hit a great finish into the back of the net at the far post. Instead the referee didn't play advantage. He blew the play dead before Higuain had a chance to shoot.
Higuain and captain Javier Mascherano were incredulous. It's tough to support berating of the referee in any situation, but this was an awful mistake that took a good goal off the board. Honestly, it's very hard to fault them for letting their emotions get the better of them in this situation. An absolute howler from the official.
