Sometimes it's difficult to relay correct information from matches halfway across the world -- particularly when you're watching a poor stream in a language you don't understand. In Uruguay vs. Chile, it took approximately ten minutes of play to determine that Alexis Sanchez was not on the pitch. And as Alexi's biggest fan, that's saying quite a bit.
When ESPN's lineups came out for this match, they had Sanchez starting. But Arturo Vidal was on the bench, and since we all know he was sent packing back to Italy, Soccernet's lineups certainly didn't seem credible. Then information came in that Sanchez would not be involved in the match, which seemed most likely, as the Barcelona player had re-injured himself in training earlier in the week. But then the TV graphic came up with Sanchez in the lineup. To make it even more confusing, the commentator kept referring to Sanchez -- despite the fact that no one on the field looked, in either style or physical appearance, like Chile's best player.
Alexi may be somewhere in Uruguay right now. When we confirm, we'll let you know.
