Mexico Vs. Serbia, 2011 International Friendly: Full Time, 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez Phantom Goal Gives El Tri Victory

It wasn't the most thrilling of encounters, but 'Chicharito' Javier Hernandez was on his game to give 'Chepo' Jose Manuel de la Torre his first home win as Mexico manager. Chicharito 'scored' the opener and converted a late penalty, giving El Tri a 2-0 win over Serbia in Queretaro.

'Scored' is in quotes because the opening goal is currently being credited to Hernandez, but should probably be credited to left back Carlos Salcido. In the second minute, Salcido put a cross into the box towards the head of Hernandez. If the Little Pea got a touch on the ball, it was ever so slight as Salcido's cross appeared to go directly into the goal at the back post, giving El Tri the lead.

The match was a bit dull afterwards, with Serbia playing a very physical game. Chicharito was knocked down numerous times inside and outside of his penalty area, with the referee calling a lenient game and only giving fouls around half the time he was taken down. He would win a penalty in the 83rd minute, however, and stepped up to convert it for his brace. Hernandez now has an incredible 13 goals in his last 14 international appearances if the first goal stands.
