In an unbelievable move, Chivas Guadalajara have dropped Marco Fabian for their 2011 Apertura Liguilla Quarterfinal, first leg match against Queretaro. With Omar Arellano and 'Cubo' Erick Torres both healthy, Fernando Quirante has opted to bench Fabian - who has scored eight goals from midfield this season - and play a 4-4-2. Queretaro have made one interesting choice to, opting to start former Chivas player 'Bofo' Adolfo Bautista up top next to Carlos Bueno. Here are the lineups.
Chivas Guadalajara Lineup (4-4-2): Hernández; Reynoso, De Luna, Magallón, Ponce; Araujo, Gallardo, Medina, Sánchez; Torres, Arellano
Queretaro Lineup (4-4-2): Sánchez; García Arias, Rico, Jiménez, Ruiz; Mondragón, Martínez, López, Ponce; Bautista, Bueno
These come straight from the Mexican FA, but that doesn't mean anything. Surely one would think that they would be an extremely reliable source, but Mexico is nuts. Even the FA sends out incorrect lineups. However, Jorge Ramos of ESPN said that Fabian did not come out with the team.
Queretaro vs. Chivas kicks off at 6:00 pm ET and can be seen on Univision in the USA.
