Get ready for a hefty dose of January transfer rumors regarding the Manchester United midfield. Tom Cleverley is already out with an ankle injury and the Red Devils have added another serious injury to their ranks. Anderson hasn't played since the UEFA Champions League match against Otelul Galati on November 2, and he's not going to be playing again for a while. Sir Alex Ferguson revealed this week that Anderson has a knee ligament injury and that he has gone to see a specialist in Portugal. He's expected to be out until February.
Anderson isn't exactly one of United's key players, but they're currently very thin and lacking in athleticism in midfield without him and Cleverley. Michael Carrick and Ryan Giggs are obviously very good players, but they aren't exactly pacey players who prefer a high-tempo game. United has utilized Wayne Rooney and Ashley Young in central roles this season in an attempt to fix this problem, and they might be stuck doing it even more often until the new year.
