Inter Milan were set to play against Genoa in the early Serie A match this Sunday, but the match has been cancelled due to flooding in Genova. Massive storms hit northwestern Italy on Friday, leaving at least seven dead, including several children. The flooding comes just a week after at least ten people were killed in Liguria (the region where Genova is located) and Tuscany, as storms ravaged the coastal regions.
With the match being cancelled as the nerazzurri sit just above the relegation zone, it would seem like a good time to make a joke about bribing officials, or the relief Inter must feel about not having to play this weekend. But then you take a look at the flooding in the region and realize just how terrifying it is:
Cross your fingers and say your prayers to San Giovanni Battista, the patron saint of Genova, that the rains cease soon. Football matches sure seem trivial at times like these.
