On Friday, the early match in Serie A, Genoa vs. Inter Milan, was cancelled due to heavy flooding in Liguria. Now, on Sunday, the biggest match of Week 10 has been called off: Napoli vs. Juventus. It's been raining heavily in Naples, too, and the mayor has urged all residents to stay indoors, preferably on upper floors. Flash floods haven't hit yet like they did in Genoa, but there's flooding near the Stadio San Paolo and, for safety's sake, it simply makes sense to call off the match.
With storms in Tuscany last weekend, Liguria earlier in the week, and now Campania, you gotta wonder just what Italy did to make global warming turn against the peninsula. Whatever it was, let's get it resolved soonish, Italy. And not just for football purposes -- calcio pales when you hear about the deaths due to floods.
Stay safe, people of Naples. Take good care.
