If the owners of Sporting Kansas City needed a match to justify the $200 million they spent building Livestrong Sporting Park, they have it. Sporting's Eastern Conference final against the Houston Dynamo has just kicked off and the stadium is absolutely packed to the gills. It feels like the entire city is there singing as the echo from the fans' singing and chanting echoes around the place.
The question is whether Sporting can parlay this kind of support into a win. While their turnaround from last place in June to the top seed in the East by the end of the season was remarkable and memorable, if they lose at their home ground today there will be considerable disappointment. At this point, they expect to be in MLS Cup, which means they need a win today, no excuses.
