What a wild start to the latest iteration of El Clasico. Just 21 second after kick-off, Barcelona goalkeeper Victor Valdes made a stunning mistake and Real Madrid capitalized as Karim Benzema buried a close range shot after a comedy of errors by the back line of the Blaugranes. Take a look at the video.
The most amazing thing about the entire sequence was the terrible pass from Valdes. The Barca keeper is about a sure footed as they come so for him to make such a glaring mistake on his first touch of the match will leave many shaking their heads. A couple deflections didn't help the situation either as Barcelona had a chance to potentially avoid the goal, but couldn't get a clearance.
As for the finish, we've seen strikers blow chances like that before so no doubt Jose Mourinho will feel vindicated in his choice to start the Frenchman Benzema ahead of birthday boy Gonzalo Higuain.
