Fresh off adding four new faces from the Stage 2 of the MLS Re-Entry Draft, the LA Galaxy announced the signing of 30-year-old Brazilian Marcelo Sarvas. The midfielder most recently played for Alajuelense, signing with the Costa Rican power in 2010 and appearing in 29 league matches over two seasons. The Galaxy got a good look at Sarvas during CONCACAF Champions League, as he appeared in both of Alajuelense's games against them.
Sarvas is more of a playmaker than a goal scorer, spending time at all three attack-oriented midfield positions. He scored just three goals at Alajuelense, but did score 23 times over 48 appearances for lower-division Swedish side Kristianstads from 2005-06.
After joining Alajuelense in 2010, he helped lead them to the 2011 Verano title and to the 2011 Invierno championship game. Sarvas appeared in 21 of the team's 30 matches.
