Jermain Defoe may not have been slotted to start tonight for Tottenham Hotspur as they host Chelsea, but news that he won't be included in the 18-man squad (he's nursing a hamstring injury) still stings a bit. Defoe's pace makes him a great player to come in off the bench, zipping past the aging legs of the Chelsea defense to grab goals. Instead, it will likely be Roman Pavlyuchenko who comes in off the bench.
Meanwhile, Spurs are still waiting to hear news on Gareth Bale, who is battling a sprained ankle sustained in training. Aaron Lennon is a no-go, also suffering from a hamstring injury, which rather makes you wonder: what on earth are Spurs doing to these players?
On the Blues side, the notorious John Terry injured his Achilles in training, although that might just be a cover for not wanting to face the taunting crowds at White Hart Lane. Worry not, JT -- the stewards will be wearing head-cams to ensure any racist chanters get thrown out! (Oh...wait...)
