Schalke 04 Transfer Rumors: Jefferson Farfan Up For Sale

Schalke 04 winger/forward Jefferson Farfan has been made available for transfer

Dec 27, 2011 - Jefferson Farfan has been not only one of Schalke 04's best players in recent years, but one of the best players in the Bundesliga. Unfortunately for him, Schalke have enjoyed a fantastic run of form with him out of the team injured. Lewis Holtby is having an excellent year, while Chinedu Obasi is joining the team on loan from Hoffenheim, with an option to buy. This combination of factors means that the Peruvian international is now being made available for transfer, according to Bild.

Farfan's contract expires in July and he turned down a new three-year extension with a large raise at the beginning of the season. Now, he appears to be going the same route as Ivan Rakitic. Last season, with his contract expiring in six months, Schalke sold Rakitic to Sevilla for 5 million Euros. It's thought that Farfan could fetch a much larger fee if he is completely recovered from his knee injury.
