Arsenal Transfer Rumors: Gunners Targeting Sao Paulo's Casemiro

At times during this season, Arsenal has seemed to lack a certain quality in midfield when Alex Song has been unavailable for selection. It seems like the Gunners have been looking for the new Vieira since Patrick Vieira moved on, and while Song might fill that void, there isn't much behind him other than Emmanuel Frimpong. It should be no surprise, then, that rumor websites and foreign papers have begun linking Arsenal to various midfielders. Today, it's Sao Paolo defensive midfielder Casemiro.

Sao Paolo didn't have an excellent tournament, while Casemiro was in and out of the squad. He had some fitness issues, but there have been rumors floating around that his injuries and fitness issues have more to do with just plain bad luck. In any event, he put in some brilliant performances and is probably on the verge of a move to Europe. The Sambafoot article linked above says that Arsenal have been quoted a price of £10 million, but they'll probably be looking to spend a bit less than that for a player who was not terribly consistent in the Brasileirao.
